A letter from our president

Arriving at NYU and New York City in general can feel like an especially daunting experience. From the lack of a bordered campus to the sheer abundance of students, it is completely normal to feel overwhelmed! When I arrived at NYU I was shocked to feel alone, despite being surrounded by thousands of people. Joining a sorority and becoming a member of the Panhellenic community immediately made my world feel a little bit smaller and more like home!

NYU’s Panhellenic community is made up of the most motivated, creative and charismatic women that I’ve ever met. As the largest social and women’s organizations on campus, our seven chapters represent a plethora of diverse and individual women. The Panhellenic community values scholarship, philanthropy and sisterhood; all areas that we excel in. Our average GPA exceeds the university average, and we consistently achieve some of the highest service hours through chapter’s individual philanthropies and our annual twelve-hour New York Dance Marathon. Chapter members individually value supporting other organizations and will frequently attend each other's events, as well as engage in friendly competition at Greek Week. Through our variety of programming and unique nature of each chapter, every woman can find her spot within the Panhellenic community.

Not only has joining a sorority at NYU opened doors and provided connections, it has also introduced me to some of my closest friends. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive group of women and in an environment that has allowed me to develop valuable skills in leadership and personal growth. I assure you that joining one of our seven chapters is a valuable way to improve your college experience and make NYU feel like home.

Every year, we host our formal recruitment process where women have the opportunity to meet each of the chapters and hopefully find their place in our community. Please explore this website to gain more information on our amazing community, and look into our Facebook and Instagram for more real time updates on what our community is up to!

WHY FSL?

NYU Fraternity and Sorority Life aims to provide an environment for cultivating leadership, advancing scholarship, and inspiring service, both inside and beyond our NYU community. By joining one of our 23 organizations, you are entering a community of exemplary students and potential lifelong friends.

Cohesively comprising the largest social organizations on campus, our chapters fall under the umbrella of three councils: the National Panhellenic Council, Inter-fraternity Council (IFC) and Multicultural Greek Council (MGC). Last year, our 1,700 students in Fraternity and Sorority Life raised over $700,000 as a community for our various philanthropies and performed over 23,000 community service hours.

The NYU Office of Fraternity and Sorority life serves as a resource to facilitate the growth and governance of our community. The FSL Office works to ensure that our councils and chapters are prioritizing member safety and responsibility through continued programming and well-established expectations.

All three councils work in tandem to create a sense of community through collaborative events. FSL Day of Service occurs once a year, and is a day where members from all three councils go out into the New York City community and perform service. NYU Greek Week is week full of fun, games and healthy competition between Panhellenic sororities and Inter-fraternity Council fraternities.

Through various initiatives and the promise of a lifelong community, joining the FSL community is an excellent addition to your college career!
